A woman of divine beauty
Hair, the colour of ravens
Eyes, an ocean blue
Showering on me like a tempest
Rain - is that you?
Beloved of the mountains
Mourning of the clouds
Lullaby of a young mother
Ringing through the house
Rain - of course that is you
Bathing the villages
Gleaming through the paddy
Adorning your lover
In hues of green
Rain - in the laugh of the farmer do I see you?
In the joyous rapture of children
In the puddles on the street
In the hurried steps
Of a beguiling teen
A shared umbrella
and a cup of tea
Yes indeed Rain that is you!
Hair, the colour of ravens
Eyes, an ocean blue
Showering on me like a tempest
Rain - is that you?
Beloved of the mountains
Mourning of the clouds
Lullaby of a young mother
Ringing through the house
Rain - of course that is you
Bathing the villages
Gleaming through the paddy
Adorning your lover
In hues of green
Rain - in the laugh of the farmer do I see you?
In the joyous rapture of children
In the puddles on the street
In the hurried steps
Of a beguiling teen
A shared umbrella
and a cup of tea
Yes indeed Rain that is you!

Yes, Indeed! The myriad moods of the rain and the myriad moods the rain evokes, you’ve captured them nicely.
loved it...rain!
Sigh your poem here makes want to get drenched in the rain!
Expressive lines of beautiful words, they brought the magic of the rain before me.
Beautifully sordid and simply poignant. Here is one of my version of the rains, if you'd like to read :

@ KP thanks a lot, means a lot coming from you.
@ Sneha loved your poem, very vivid portrayal of a lovely childhood. Felt I was walking behind you in your home and seeing it all through your eyes. I cannot figure out how to post my comment there so leaving this note for you here. I hope you return and read it. Thanks for visiting and once again loved your linesm

Since the last two posts were about adopting a pet, you would like to read this. Take care.
Yes, Sujata...I've read your lovely words about my poem. Thank you. Hope all else well. :-)
The lines that you penned are enhanced in beauty by the picture on the post.In fact they compliment one other.
As Arun says you have captured the moods that rain can evoke.
I could look at that photograph for hours! Reminded me of the countless times I have watched rain in the forests...
Your irrepressible joy sparkles like sunshine through the rain.
Check out late Victor George's pictures of Rain.
@Anil Thanks
@Balan Thanks. The picture was taken during the monsoon, locally called khareef, last year in the province of Dhofar, Oman. This is the only province of this country that receives monsoon in the months of July and August. The desert as you notice blooms then.
Lovely pic and nice poem!
